Privacy policy

Last updated September 2026.

LightHousePBC, Inc. ("LightHouse PBC", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect on LightHousePBC.org, why, and what you can do about it.

Information you give us

When you contact us, apply to volunteer, register for an event or make a donation, you may provide your name, email address, phone number, mailing address and whatever you write in a message. We collect this only because you chose to send it.

Volunteer applications collect additional information, including availability, background and criminal history disclosure, because we serve a vulnerable population and screening is required. Volunteer background checks are run through Sterling Volunteers under their own privacy terms.

Donations

Donations are processed by Zeffy, a third party payment platform. Your card details are entered on Zeffy's systems and are never transmitted to, stored on or accessible from this website. Zeffy's handling of your data is governed by Zeffy's own privacy policy. We receive the donor name, contact details and gift amount so we can acknowledge the gift and meet our reporting obligations.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our host records standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, referring page and the pages you visited. We may use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful and where visitors come from. This is aggregate traffic measurement, not an attempt to identify you personally. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by enabling Do Not Track or a tracking blocker.

We do not use advertising cookies to build a profile of you or sell audiences to anyone.

How we use your information

  • To reply to you and follow up on your enquiry
  • To process, acknowledge and receipt donations
  • To administer volunteer onboarding, training and scheduling
  • To send our e-newsletter and event news, if you asked for it
  • To meet our legal, tax and charitable registration obligations

What we never do

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate (for example our payment processor, email platform and background check provider), each bound to handle it appropriately, or where we are legally required to disclose it.

Confidentiality for the people we serve

Information relating to survivors, clients and program participants is confidential and is handled under applicable mental health confidentiality law, not under this website policy. We do not publish identifying details about anyone we serve, and stories are shared only with explicit permission.

Email

If you subscribe to our e-newsletter you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by emailing us. We will remove you promptly.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

This site is served over HTTPS and we take reasonable measures to protect information in our care. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to any records we are legally required to keep. Email Becky@LightHousePBC.org or call 561-386-0031.
