What that involves in practice
- Pro bono individual mental health counseling
- Trauma therapy, including complex trauma from childhood
- Therapeutic groups
- Career counseling and resume building
- Case management and practical support
- Referral and warm handoff into detox, rehab and sober housing
Becky Dymond is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Qualified Supervisor with a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology. Care is trauma informed from the first appointment.
Why this cannot be rushed
Processing trauma and addressing life skill deficits takes both time and energy, and those are rarely available to someone who does not know where she is sleeping tonight.
That is the honest limit of outpatient work, and it is exactly why the safe house matters so much. A residential program runs 12 to 18 months. It gives therapy somewhere stable to happen.
We ran a five bed house from 2013 to 2018 and sheltered 14 women. We intend to do it again.
