LightHouse Palm Beach County

Program 03

Counseling, trauma therapy and case management

Provided at no cost to survivors, for as long as it takes. Over 100 women so far.

Three words we work toward

Our goal for every woman who walks in is the same, and we say it in the same order every time.

  • Recover her life from powerlessness, helplessness and hopelessness.
  • Restore dignity, identity and destiny.
  • Release her into a life of purpose, productivity and independence.

What that involves in practice

  • Pro bono individual mental health counseling
  • Trauma therapy, including complex trauma from childhood
  • Therapeutic groups
  • Career counseling and resume building
  • Case management and practical support
  • Referral and warm handoff into detox, rehab and sober housing

Becky Dymond is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Qualified Supervisor with a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology. Care is trauma informed from the first appointment.

Why this cannot be rushed

Processing trauma and addressing life skill deficits takes both time and energy, and those are rarely available to someone who does not know where she is sleeping tonight.

That is the honest limit of outpatient work, and it is exactly why the safe house matters so much. A residential program runs 12 to 18 months. It gives therapy somewhere stable to happen.

We ran a five bed house from 2013 to 2018 and sheltered 14 women. We intend to do it again.

If you need help

There is no waiting list and no cost. Call Becky directly at 561-386-0031.

In immediate danger, call 911. The National Human Trafficking Hotline is 1-888-373-7888, or text HELP to 233733.

For clinicians

We also train the people who see her first

Victims very rarely identify as victims. So the burden falls on the professional in the room to notice.

CEUs for providers

Continuing education for medical and mental health professionals on identifying possible trafficking scenarios inside their own field, and responding in HIPAA compliant terms.

Trauma informed care

Volunteer and professional training on trauma, strength-based approaches and relationships, transactional analysis and boundaries, the five stages of change, and confidentiality.

Book a training

We present to nursing programs, hospitals, law enforcement academies, civic organizations, churches and schools across the county.
